A group of scooter loving ladies from Norfolk have recently shot a cheeky charity calendar to help boost funds for a local girl suffering from a rare medical condition.

Nine year old Ella Kett suffers from Cornelia de Lange Syndrome (CdLS). The syndrome affects growth, speech, mobility, mental health, learning and most areas of development. One of the biggest difficulties has been a reflux problem; Ella has very significant damage to her oesophagus and is on high doses of medication, she also has to undergo invasive tests on a regular basis to help monitor the condition. A recent MRI scan also revealed that Ella has a curvature of the spine and has suffered damage to one kidney.

Eighteen months ago a fund was set up to help pay for trips to see specialists and for her family to attend the CdLS conferences where Ella and her family can meet and talk to other families who live with the debilitating condition. Ella has attended conferences in Glasgow and Denmark and the aim is for her to go to Argentina next year. Last winter Ella’s fund was used to take her to Lapland. A trip that her mum said “Was a once in a lifetime opportunity which Ella thoroughly enjoyed”.

The calendar came about as a dare amongst customers at a Norwich mod clothing shop, who were touched by the plucky youngster and her family. Mod is quite big news at the minute with scooter loving cycling hero Bradley Wiggins constantly in the news, so a calendar featuring tasteful shots of the girls wearing sixties style clothing posing with a selection of classic and modern scooters seemed like the perfect idea. Shop owner, Jane Gosling said “What started out as a dare got completely out of hand. The girls were incredible, all of us said we wouldn’t show any flesh but it soon resulted in who could bare the most!” All will be revealed in November when the saucy calendar goes on sale. It will cost £10 and be available from www.modone.co.uk, order your copy now.
